LAYER 3

Inspire Meaningful Transformation

Lead Yourself

 Always Prioritize Time for Reflection

This layer is all about behaviors and thus about reflecting on your own behaviors. For each of the three chapters, we have created a self assessment (first download). Next to that you find an additional download exercise, in this case on how to create a reflection rhythm. Too many people are just running from meeting to meeting. You need to pause, look back, reflect and see if (a) you are leading this as you want it to lead and (b) the transformation is moving in the right direction or if other interventions are needed.

How Do You Lead Yourself?

Assess yourself on the first seven behaviors. Which ones are already strengths you can build on? Which ones can you experiment with?

Reflection Rhythm

The goal is to make reflection such a strong part of your DNA that it becomes almost automatic. To get there, you need to start building conscious reflection moments.

Your Action

Choose one behavior from the seven that resonates with you to try it and see what value it adds to your role as transformation lead. If the example tiny habit is not the best one, remember your best AI friends to find a better tiny habit for you for that specific behavior. And plan 30 min in your calendar for this week, to sit down and build your reflection rhythm.

Lead Others

Always Add Value to Others

Time to reflect on the next set of seven behaviors and see where your strengths and opportunities lie. On top of that, the key for being a successful transformation lead – and a nice human being as well 😉 – is to always focus on adding value to others. Not just thinking that you add value, but ensuring that you ask others if they agree or what you can do to add more value to them. Remember, if they are cancelling meetings with you, your value is not yet a high priority to them.

How Do You Lead Others?

Assess yourself on the second set of behaviors. Which ones are already strengths you can build on? Which ones can you experiment with?

Assess Your Value

Let’s see if you feel that you are adding value to other, non CX departments and more importantly, if you think they feel the same way.

Your Action

When you are done experimenting with a habit from the first seven behaviors, pick a new behavior that resonates with you to experiment with. If you feel there are more behaviors from the first seven that need your attention first, then of course continue experimenting with the habits and behaviors from Leading Yourself. Just don’t try too many behaviors at the same time. You want to really try them and reflect on their impact – on yourself and on others around you. You might connect this new behavior to your value assessment: if you feel you can enhance your value to other departments, then turn that into a new behavior, a new tiny habit.

Lead The System

The System Needs Your Energy

Never forget you are trying to change a 100 year old system. That takes time, energy, compassion, creativity, bold interventions, fun and purpose. See which new behaviors you can adopt to strengthen your role as transformation lead. It’s not a short journey that you are embarking on. For both your own engagement as well as inspiring others, you need to stay really close to your personal why. Why does this transformation matter to you? As long as you stay close to that, people will feel it and will want to embark on the journey with you.

How Do You Lead The System?

Assess yourself on the third and final set of behaviors. Which ones are already strengths you can build on? Which ones can you experiment with?

Your Action

Weave the purpose and why of your role in this transformation into your reflection rhythm. If you feel you are losing energy, pause and reflect why it’s leaking. What can you change to connect back to the original energy? This is how you keep your own engagement high, without taking over responsibility of others in the organisation. Make it fun, stay away from too corporate, boring approaches. That keeps it fun not just for you but also for the rest of the organisation you want to mobilize.
